What should I bring to my appointment?

Patients will need a current referral from their GP. If you have had any recent imaging or pathology done, please ensure the results are at our rooms.

Medicare card, private health details – level of cover, Veterans Affair – colour of card, worker compensation details – claim number, insurer & case manager details.

How do I prepare for surgery?

If you smoke, try to stop smoking now. This may reduce your risk of developing complications after surgery and will improve your long-term health. Make sure your diabetes is uncontrol prior to any surgery, as this will also help lessen your complications and help your recovery.

Try to maintain a healthy weight with regular exercise to prepare for your operation and help with your recovery. Before you start exercising, it is a good idea to talk to your GP.

Private self-funded or public patient?

If you require surgery, you can either choose to proceed as a private patient or self-funded patient through Tamara Private Hospital, or be placed on the waiting list as a public patient at Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital.

Both Dr Max and Dr Lilach have admitting rights to both hospitals.

How long will my appointment be?

Between 15-45 minutes. Our doctors do their very best to run on time each day. You are welcome to call our rooms prior to your appointment to see how your doctor is travelling.

How will I pay?

Eftpos facilities are available and cash is accepted. If a third party is paying for your consultation, such as Healthwise, it is your responsibility to organise an approval prior to your appointment. Please note, we are not a bulk billing practice and your consultation needs to be paid in full at the end of your consultation.

Will I receive a Medicare rebate?

At time of payment, we will lodge the Medicare claim for your appointment. Your Medicare rebate will then go back into your nominated bank account.

What is the hospital admissions process?

If you are having surgery at Tamara Private Hospital, we will forward your completed Admission and Consent Forms to Tamara Private Hospital. You will be required to complete the Patient information form for Tamara Private Hospital either by completing the booklet or by accessing the Online Admissions at the top of our website.

Can I come to the clinic if I don't have private Health Insurance?

Yes, all patients are welcome, regardless of medical insurance status.

Is it ok to come to my appointment when I have my period?

Yes, patients are welcome to come to their appointment with Dr Lilach when they are menstruating.
